The Ground Beneath Our Feet
Soil Tent
The Ground Beneath Our Feet is a partnership between the U.S. Forest Service , the Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment (GLOBE) Program, the Arts Alliance of Northern New Hampshire, and the White Mountain National Forest.
The Soil Tent, a traveling educational exhibit, evokes the striking visual experience of entering into the earth with its layers and creatures on display. Each ten-by-ten foot interior face of the Tent represents one of three different ecosystems: forest, meadow, and wetlands. Along with the Tent, a series of hands-on science activities offer students the opportunity to deepen their curiosity about and understanding of the soil, and to emerge with new tools for observing their soil environment, wherever they may find themselves.
